the creative
process
Working from his studio at The Foundry in East London, Robertson develops his practice through observation, reflection and ongoing experimentation. Each painting begins from an encounter with a place or event—whether physically visited or remembered—absorbing it’s ambience and history.
The studio is not only a place of making, but also a space of encounter and discovery. It is where ideas take shape, forms are explored, and the language of painting develops. Often working on multiple pieces at once, allowing a dialogue to emerge between them. This result is a body of work that is cohesive, emotionally resonant, and rooted in an engagement with contemporary life.
This careful and intuitive process defines Robertsons distinctive voice in contemporary painting.
